Privacy notice

In brief: Kjøpsvakten only uses information needed to deliver reports, enforce the daily limit and maintain simple aggregate traffic statistics.

Information processed

  • The listing URL, listing text, price, item details and any local references submitted by the user. For marketplaces without approved automatic access, the URL is used only as a link back to the original listing.
  • Optional screenshots may be sent to OpenAI when you explicitly choose automatic AI extraction. Screenshots that you choose, paste or share to Kjøpsvakten from Android are handled locally on the device first. Images received through the Share menu are kept only temporarily in the browser’s local PWA storage until Kjøpsvakten opens. The screenshots are used for one-time extraction and are not stored with the listing or report.
  • A random client ID stored locally in the browser. It is used only for the daily limit and abuse prevention, allowing the same browser to reopen earlier analyses without counting them again.
  • A shortened, keyed pseudonymous identifier derived from the IP address is used for the daily limit. The raw IP address is not stored in this dataset.
  • Language choice, cache keys and technical logs.
  • Optional report feedback, including any free-text comment, is stored with the report reference and used to improve the service. The feedback dataset does not contain the raw IP address.
  • If you explicitly choose “Share this assessment”, Kjøpsvakten stores a limited public snapshot behind a random share link. It does not contain the client ID, raw or pseudonymous IP identifier, postal code or full listing description. The link normally expires after 30 days.
  • For eBay imports, Kjøpsvakten sends a Norwegian reference postal code to eBay to request a shipping estimate to Norway. The reference postal code is not the user’s actual location.

Traffic statistics

Kjøpsvakten stores only aggregate page-view counts per day. The analytics dataset does not contain a browser ID, visitor ID, raw IP address, name or precise location. A page reload may therefore count as a new page view. Aggregate counts are normally retained for up to 180 days.

Purpose and retention

Information is used for report generation, report reuse, daily-limit/abuse protection, improvement based on voluntary feedback, troubleshooting and aggregate operational statistics. Report cache is normally retained for the period shown on the site. Dated daily-limit data is deleted automatically after a short period, normally within 48 hours. Server log retention depends on the hosting environment.

Third parties

Necessary search details are sent to eBay for market searches. User-supplied listing details may be sent to OpenAI during report generation, and optional screenshots are sent to OpenAI only when the user explicitly chooses AI extraction. Report cache, public report snapshots created by the user, pseudonymised daily-limit data and aggregate page-view counts may be stored by Upstash. Voluntary support is processed directly by PayPal through PayPal.Me. Kjøpsvakten does not receive card details or PayPal passwords.

Your choices

You can remove local browser data through your browser settings. Requests for access or deletion may be sent to the contact address shown on the website.
